about him

Atilla is Toronto based photographer. Born and raised in Turkey.  His Toronto adventure started on February 2003.

His first SLR camera was a Yashica Electro 35 GSN, back in 1995, when he was in university. He took photography classes during his summer break in Adana/Turkey to learn how  his vision can be improved. He became a self-thought photographer afterwards.

He was showing his vision to others with his photographs, 8×11 prints back then. Most of his prints got lost during his adventures between cities. Adana, Cankiri, Ankara, Istanbul… then Toronto.

He bought his next camera from a second hand shop in a bazaar in Adana, Minolta Maxxum 5000i this was a big step up at that time with continuous AF, Evaluative metering system and built-in Flash system.

His next camera was a Canon EOS 500 with 28-80mm lens. That was “the camera” back then. Multi-basis  AF system with 3 AF point. High Shutter speed (1/2000 sec) TTL autoflash control… and many more.  He used the camera until late 2003. He was introduced to the Digital world after this.

Hi bought his first DSLR Nikon D50 with 18-55mm lens to learn more about digital world and his ambition was growing everyday. He was never a big fan of post production, he still is not, but knows the necessity and considers photograph and post production works like a film and dark-room.

Currently he is using Nikon D200 with a grip. Mainly shoots with Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 for walk around lens, Nikon 85mm f/1.8 for portraits and street photograph, Nikon 35mm f/2.0 for wide angles and some macros and walk around lens and Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP Di for macro and product shots as it has the 1:1 magnification ratio.
